Fort Rucker Center Library: A Plethora of Information

Think the Center Library is simply full of paperback books? Think again! Center Library has so much to offer its customers, including E-books, eResources, Transparent Language Online, CDs, audio books, video games, and more.

Want to download an E-book? Simply log on to the Center Library’s online library catalog and start browsing for either educational or pleasure reading.

Need to brush up on your Spanish skills? Rosetta Stone programs are available to patrons with Spanish being one of the most popular. In addition, Transparent Language Online is accessible to everyone on Center Library’s website. It offers basic language courses in 48 foreign languages, and uses other activities to aid in language development.

In order to set up an account online with Center Library, visit the website listed below and click on the “Online Catalog” link. Log in with the e-mail address you provided when applying for a library card. Once you have an account set up, you can put books on hold, make a reading list, and enjoy more resources than paper books can provide.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Children’s Story Time is every Friday from 10:15 – 11 a.m. Children ages 2-5 are able to listen to a story read and enjoy craft time or coloring. A special children’s Craft-Making Activity is held monthly.

U.S. Army Soldier Show Returns!

The U.S. Army Soldier Show, proudly presented by Family and MWR, returns to the Fort Rucker area with two 90-minute live musical performances at Enterprise High School Performing Arts Center on August 2 at 7 p.m. and August 3 at 2:30 p.m.

The community is invited to come out to watch and support the talented cast of Soldiers as the show explores music genres and cultures from around the world. The theme of the show is  “Ready and Resilient” and has a message that speaks to everyone.

You won’t want to miss this memorable night of music, dance and celebration! Admission is FREE and open to the public. No tickets required!

DID YOU KNOW?

• The first Army Soldier Show was perfromed on Broadway in 1917, “Yip Yip Yank” conceived and directed by SGT Irving Berlin.

• The 2013 U.S. Army Soldier Show, the 30th consecutive annual show of the modern era, is made up of 34 soldiers: 15 performers, 12 technicians, and 6 drivers.

• In the span of 5 months, the 2013 U.S. Army Soldier Show will perform at 34 CONUS Garrisons with 55 performances for our Army Families and their communities. The Tour will culminate with 2 final performances at their home, located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in the month of September.

Wiregrass Freedom Fest 2013!

Join us this July as we celebrate Wiregrass Freedom Fest 2013.  

 


The Wiregrass Freedom Fest is now proudly a partnership between Fort Rucker and its neighbors: Daleville, Dothan, Enterprise and Ozark. Thru the additional support of sponsors and our community, Wiregrass Freedom Fest 2013 welcomes the entire Wiregrass community to come and enjoy the festivities.

Join us in the celebration of our nation's independence at Fort Rucker’s Festival Fields on July 3rd from 4 pm to 10 pm for a day of food, activities, exhibits and fun, culminating in one of the area's largest fireworks shows.

Enjoy displays, a kids’ zone with inflatables, food and merchandise vendors, fly-over by Red Thunder Air Show Team and so much more. The 98th Army Silver Wings band will be the evening’s musical entertainment with special guest performance by McKayla Reece - Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Ambassador/ Sweetheart for Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and South Carolina.

  • Food & Craft Vendors - 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Music - 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Red Thunder Air Show Team Fly-Over - 7 p.m.
  • Tribute to Fallen Heroes - 8 p.m.
  • Fireworks - 9 p.m.

Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets and kick back to enjoy the show. With over 20,000 people attending this annual event, this is the party of all parties and no party is complete without fireworks! Enjoy one of the largest fireworks displays in the area which is an annual tradition for Families throughout the Wiregrass.

Get in touch with your inner "beach bum" and join us for our annual welcome-to-summer celebration at Lake Fest! 

The fun starts on Saturday, May 18th from noon to 6 p.m. as we turn West Beach, Lake Tholocco into a tropical paradise. Lake Fest features a variety of fun activities for all ages including swimming, kids inflatable’s, games, vendors, and more. Sign-up to participate in our Sandcastle Contest or Volleyball Tournament at the event. We will offer FREE use of life jackets, canoes and paddle boats to keep the party going all afternoon! 

Admission is FREE and open to the public.
