Halloween Events with Fort Rucker MWR

Get into the season with Fort Rucker Family & MWR. We have lots of fun planned for you to get your chills & thrills this October! 

Trick-or-Treating on Fort Rucker 

October 31 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.



 

Frite Nite at the Riding Stables

October 18 & 19 from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m.



Come join us for Frite Nite at the Riding Stables! This year we are featuring "Haunted Trail & Barn of Screams.” Tickets will be on sale for $12 per person per night and can be purchased at Leisure Travel Services, the Riding Stables, or the night of the event. (Only cash will be accepted the night of the event.)  Concessions will be available at the event for an additional cost. Please note: There will be strobe lights and fog machines present. This event is not recommended for people that have seizures, asthma and anyone under the age of 12. Children under that age require parental supervision. Children's Fall Festival at the Riding Stables

October 19 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.


Bring the kids out to the Children's Fall Festival, October 19th from 11am - 1pm at the Fort Rucker Riding Stables. There will be pony/horse rides,  a bouncy house, train rides, carnival games and much more! Dress your kids up in their Halloween costumes and enter them into a Costume Contest! Food and beverages will also be available on site. Only cash will be accepted at the event. Cost is $1 per ticket. (Price for each activity will vary, ranging from 1-4 tickets.) Halloween Craft Making Activity at Center Library 

October 22 from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Join Center Library for a Halloween Craft Making Activity being held October 22nd from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Children are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes! Stop by or call the Center Library for more information or to register. Craft Making Activity is for Children ages 3 - 11 years of age. Space is limited to the first 65 children registered. Spooky 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run at Fortenberry-Colton PFC

October 26 at 9 a.m. 

The Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center will be hosting the annual Spooky 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, and Costume Contest October 26th beginning at 9 a.m. Registration on the day of the event will begin at 7:30a.m. and end at 8:45 a.m. at the Fortenberry-Colton Physical Fitness Center. Participants are encouraged to pre-register for this event. Forms are available at either Physical Fitness Center. The 1-Mile Fun Run is free and open to all children and will begin after the 5K is completed. Each Fun Run participant will receive a medal. There will be a costume contest with 1st place trophies for Overall Best Costume, Scariest Costume, and Most Original Costume for both adults and children categories. The costume contest is free to enter and will begin at 8 a.m. Cost for the run is $20-25 individual $120-160 for teams. Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Center, (334) 255-2296.   





Monster Bowl at Rucker Lanes
October 26 from 8 p.m. - 12 a.m. 


Rucker Lanes is hosting their annual Monster Bowl, October 26th from 8pm to midnight. Cost is $50 per lane and includes unlimited bowling up to 6 people per lane,  shoe rental, a 16” one-topping pizza, a pitcher of soda or sweet tea and a bowl of tortilla  chips and salsa. Spook-tacular Bingo 
October 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Fort Rucker Bingo will host Spook-tacular Bingo on October 29th during regular session bingo as part of their Halloween celebration at The Landing. Doors open at 2pm and games will begin at 6:30 p.m. Come to our Spook-tacular Bingo in your Halloween costume and receive $5 towards your machine pack and a chance to win $100 and a super prize pack. Fort Rucker Center Library: A Plethora of Information

Think the Center Library is simply full of paperback books? Think again! Center Library has so much to offer its customers, including E-books, eResources, Transparent Language Online, CDs, audio books, video games, and more.

Want to download an E-book? Simply log on to the Center Library’s online library catalog and start browsing for either educational or pleasure reading.

Need to brush up on your Spanish skills? Rosetta Stone programs are available to patrons with Spanish being one of the most popular. In addition, Transparent Language Online is accessible to everyone on Center Library’s website. It offers basic language courses in 48 foreign languages, and uses other activities to aid in language development.

In order to set up an account online with Center Library, visit the website listed below and click on the “Online Catalog” link. Log in with the e-mail address you provided when applying for a library card. Once you have an account set up, you can put books on hold, make a reading list, and enjoy more resources than paper books can provide.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Children’s Story Time is every Friday from 10:15 – 11 a.m. Children ages 2-5 are able to listen to a story read and enjoy craft time or coloring. A special children’s Craft-Making Activity is held monthly.

Fort Rucker, the Fisherman's Paradise

Whether you’re an expert angler or a casual fisherman, you will enjoy casting your line out on one of Fort Rucker’s beautiful lakes. Try your luck with Large Mouth Bass, Hybrid Bass, Catfish, Crappie, or Bream. Creel limits posted at the lakes.

Each of our lakes offers a unique fishing experience to those looking to spend a day on the water. Need a boat? Ask about our boating equipment available for checkout* from our Outdoor Recreation Service Center.

Lake Tholocco

This 640-acre lake is located on Johnston Road and is home to our Outdoor Recreation Service Center, West Beach swimming area, RV Park and Lake Tholocco Lodging cabins. While this location is known for its amazing views and recreation on the shore, its waters offer a fisherman’s paradise. Lake Tholocco fishing is open to all ages. 

Parcours Lake  

At 4.1 acres, this lake is reserved for our youth fishers, ages 15 and below. Ages 16 and above may assist youth in fishing, but may not actively fish at this lake. Ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Parcours Lake is located on Farrel Road, behind Lyster Army Health Clinic. 

Beaver Lake

Surrounded by walking trails, this 7.7-acre lake is open to all ages, from sunup to sundown. Access to Beaver Lake can be found off of 3rd Avenue, by the Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Center’s football field. 

Beaver Pond 

This small fishing pond is open to all ages, from sunup to sundown. Beaver Pond is located off of Andrews Avenue, between Silver Wings Golf Course and Ozark Gate. 

Ech Lake 

This 7.7 acre lake is open to all ages, from sunup to sundown. To get to Ech Lake, turn from Christian Road onto Johnston Road, then take the first unpaved road on the left and follow the signs to Ech Lake.  

Buckhorn Lake

This 13.2-acre lake is open to all ages. Buckhorn Lake is open from sunup to sundown, however days of operation are subject to change. We ask that patrons visit www.ftruckermwr.com or contact us at Fort Rucker Outdoor Recreation to view the weekly schedule, Wednesday after 1 p.m. The Lake is located 2 miles past Silver Wings Golf Course on Hatch Road. 

Post Fishing Permits

For fishers ages 16 and older, a State Fishing License and Post Fishing Permit are needed prior to fishing on Fort Rucker. Please visit the Outdoor Recreation Service Center to obtain your license and permit.
