April Army Community Service Programs

Scream Free Parenting Workshop - April 4, 11, 18, & 25  
 
In Recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, ACS's Family Advocacy Program is holding a Scream Free Parenting Workshop every Thursday in April from 9-11:30 a.m. at The Commons, Bldg. 8950 on 7th Ave. Scream Free Parenting is the principle-based approach that is inspiring parents everywhere to truly revolutionize their Families, teaching you how to raise your kids by keeping your cool. Financial Readiness Training, April 5 

Financial Readiness Training provides a practical approach to personal financial management so Soldiers can gain control of and manage money effectively. Financial Readiness Training is required for all first-term junior enlisted Soldiers (E-1 through E-4). ACS will offer this class from on April 5, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Soldier Service Center, room 284. ACS Financial Readiness Program, (334) 255-2594/9631.

Blue Day, Fridays in April

April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Blue Day Campaign will begin on Friday, April 5 as a Fort Rucker community wide effort to recognize our collective responsibility to prevent and confront all forms of child abuse and neglect by wearing something blue every Friday throughout the month of April.  Let's band together and wear blue as a visible commitment to support child abuse prevention and encourage everyone else in your organization to wear Blue in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Survivors & Fallen Heroes Run, April 20

On April 20th, the Physical Fitness Facility will be hosting the Survivors and Fallen Heroes 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run. Race Day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the 5K will start at 8 a.m. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at either PFF. Forms are available at either PFF or available for download from the Fort Rucker Family & MWR website. The 1-Mile Fun Run is free and open to all children and will begin after the 5k is completed. Creating Powerful Resumes & Successful Interviewing Workshop, April 25

Center Library will be holding a Creating Powerful Resumes & Successful Interviewing Workshop on April 25th from 5-6 p.m. Hosted by Debbie Gaydos of ACS's Employment Readiness Program, this workshop will teach you how to create an effective resume or improve the one you already have. In addition to transforming your resume into a powerful tool that will get you interviews, this workshop will also provide you with tips on successfully interviewing with future employers. What is Applied Behavior Workshop, April 25 

In observance of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month and Autism Awareness Month, ACS's Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) and Family Advocacy Program (FAP) invite you to the "What  Is Applied Behavior Analysis? " workshop April 25 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at The Commons, Bldg. 8950. This workshop will discuss Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and ABA therapy, tools and techniques that are helpful to individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The presenter will be Ashlie Grill Walker, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  Registration is required by April 23. ACS, (334) 255-9277.

9th Annual Children's Festival

It’s that time of year again – time for Fort Rucker’s 9th Annual Children’s Festival! Join for this FREE Military Family event at Festival Fields on Saturday, March 23rd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children’s Festival offers tons of fun for children of all ages to include activities, inflatables, crafts, a petting zoo, the Diaper Derby and more. The event also hosts one of the largest Easter Egg Hunts in the area where kids can win candy, prizes and even meet the Easter Bunny!

“This is going to be one of the biggest Children’s Festivals in Fort Rucker history,” says Kimberly Abeln, event coordinator. “In preparation, we’ll be stuffing over 14,000 plastic eggs. We’re looking forward to hosting new interactive activities that the kids are going to love!”

This year’s theme is “Up, Up, and Away!” We invite guests to bring your kites along or make one with us (while supplies last). Join us on the Festival Fields following the Egg Hunts as we fill the sky above with colorful kites.

Think you have the fastest baby on Fort Rucker? Be sure they participate in the 3rd Annual Diaper Derby, open to all crawling babies no older than 15 months. Cheer them on as they race towards the finish line for prizes!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Army Community Service invites the community to take a stand against child abuse and join us for the Pinwheels for Prevention Family Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, March 23rd. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Facility.

Registration for this event is FREE and will be available on the day of the run from 9 - 9:25 a.m. Participation awards will be given to all registered participants ages 16 and under at the end of the race. After the Fun Run join us at Festival Fields for Children’s Festival starting at 1 p.m.
